16 July 2008 - rescue of Indonesian fisherman from the vessel Rosu Tercero, approximately 265nm off-shore from Tauranga.

Aircraft Recovery - Omokoroa, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
29 December 2006: Recovery of a Britten-Norman Islander aircraft from mudflats near Omokoroa, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
The fixed-wing aircraft had made a forced landing after double engine failure the previous day.
Helicopter ER-MHH lifted and flew the plane to Hamilton Airport, a flight of approximately 35 mins duration.

Emergency Evacuation - Raoul Island, Kermadec Group, New Zealand
17 March 2006: Helicopter ER-MHH was fitted with its long-range fuel tank system to make the flight to Raoul Island to evacuate five Department of Conservation staff after one of the island's craters (Green Lake) had erupted that morning.
The helicopter flew the 587 nautical mile sector (1,087km) to Raoul Island. After refuelling on Raoul Island, the return trip was made to Ardmore with the five DoC staff onboard, touching down at 11:40pm after a total of 9.4 flight hours for the day.
The crew that flew this rescue mission was awarded the 2006 Igor Sikorsky Award for Humanitarian Service by the Helicopter Association International. Click here to read more.

Chairlift Tower Installation - Treble Cone Skifield, New Zealand
13 April 2005: Helicopter ER-MHA assisted with the installation of a new Doppelmayr quad-chairlift from Base Lodge to Saddle Basin at Treble Cone skifield.
Each tower section was lifted from the skifield base to its required position on the mountain and held in place while engineers secured the bulky towers. Each section weighed approximately 4,500kg.

Vessel salvage - Futuna Island, South Pacific
August 2004: Heli Harvest Ltd was contracted to provide aerial lifting services to unload the 5,700 tonne vessel "Southern Moana" which had run aground on a reef at Futuna Island - a French Territory positioned approximately 612 kilometres to the north-east of Nadi, Fiji.
Over the course of two weeks, we transferred approximately 900 tonnes of cargo by air from the ship to shore. Once unladen, the salvage team successfully refloated the vessel on the high tide.
North-bound route: Taupo - Ardmore - Kerikeri - Norfolk Island - Noumea - Port Vila - Nadi - Futuna.
South-bound route: Futuna - Tonga - Raoul Island - Auckland - Taupo.

Movie production "Stealth" - New South Wales, Australia
March 2004: Assisted in the production of the blockbuster film called "Stealth" (U.S release date July 2005). The film starred Josh Lucas, Jessica Biel and Jamie Foxx.
ER-MHZ was given a temporary camoflague paint scheme and was armed with rockets and a cannon for its role as a "baddie" helicopter. Filming of our part in the movie took place over about a week.

Firefighting - Victoria, Australia
ER-MHZ has done three firefighting seasons in Mansfield, VIC., Australia.
The image to the left shows ER-MHZ with its highly-visible "helitak" number 148 marked on the side. This photo was taken after lowering the HL5000 Bambi Bucket to the ground at the end of its 35 metre longline.

Engine Cylinder Liner - Ruakaka, New Zealand
14 Jan 2003: Helicopter ER-MHA transported a 3-tonne cylinder liner from Ruakaka Racecourse onto the vessel MV Australian Fame.
The ship was at anchor in Bream Bay because ship was too large to berth at any New Zealand port.

Transportation of construction material - Lord Howe Island, Australia
1998: Transportation of construction material from barge to land on remote Lord Howe Island in the Tasman Sea for Fulton Hogan.
Heli Harvest designed and constructed a specialist robust rock-bucket with release operation commanded from on-board the helicopter.
This enabled fast loading and unloading of rocks, sand and gravel for making concrete.

Goldmine Support - Papua New Guinea
2001-2002: provision of aerial lifting and passenger carriage services to a gold-mining company at Tolukuma, high in the mountains in Papua New Guinea.
As part of this contract, we designed and installed 24 forward-facing seats for installation in the Mi-8 for the carriage of passengers. These seats conform to FAA standards and can be fitted on request.

Television Transmission Towers Installation - Australia
2000-2001: provision of aerial construction services to Transfield for the assembly of the ABC's television towers throughout Australia.
This job saw us make several trans-tasman crossings to do work at sites including Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Townsville, Mt Gambier, and Albany.

Cellphone Tower Installation - New Zealand
We have installed cellphone towers for Telecom and Vodafone at remote sites around New Zealand.
This image shows ER-MHZ delivering telecommunications hardware to Motutapu Island in the Hauraki Gulf.
Sites that we have installed cellphone towers at include: Masterton, French Pass, Motutapu and Tiritiri-Matangi Islands.

Vineyard Frost Protection - Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
In the spring of 2002, we did our first aerial frost protection work. The downwash from the helicopter stirs up the air above the vineyard and prevents frost from forming on the vines. This service is a lifeline for wine producers, as frost in spring is potentially disastrous for their crops. |
Bridge-sculpture transportation - Auckland, New Zealand
We lifted and flew a large bridge-sculpture in two four-tonne sections from suburban Manukau City to its owner's property in Kaukapakapa, north of Auckland. This was a complex operation due to having to lift the load from a built-up area. |
Pedestrian Bridge Installations - throughout New Zealand
We have been contracted on several occasions to assist with the installation of pedestrian bridges around New Zealand.
We have worked for the Hamilton City Council, Waikato District Council, and Department of Conservation over the years. |
